This is a cross-curricular website (History and Art and Design) aimed at Key Stage 2 pupils.
To make the most effective use of this website; make resources available within the classroom and allow children to navigate through the site and complete the activities provided. The website will help you to meet the following objectives within the National Curriculum (2013) for History: Pupils should continue to develop a chronologically secure knowledge and understanding of British, local and world history establishing clear narratives within and across the periods they study. - pupils should construct informed responses that involve thoughtful selection and organisation of relevant historical information. - to be able to study an aspect or theme in British History that extends pupils' chronological knowledge beyond 1066. E.g. the change in power of the monarchs. The website will help you to meet the following objectives within the National Curriculum (2013) for Art and Design: Pupils should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation. - to improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials [for example, pencil, charcoal, paint, clay] - produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences |
